The Big 3-0!

So, it's been a week, and I'm just getting around to posting about it! It's true, I turned 30 last week and celebrated all weekend! :-)

Here's the run-down of the weekend.

We (the 4 of us) drove up to Greensboro Wednesday (the 18th--my birthday). *I* thought the plan was that Matt and I would drop the girls off at his parent's and the two of us would go out to dinner together. We left to go to dinner as planned, but we didn't go where I thought we were going. We went instead to the restaurant *I* thought we were going to go to on Friday night with the whole family. Surprise! Matt had arranged with everyone to meet there on Wednesday instead. So, dinner at P.F. Chang's on Wednesday night with Matt's parents, my dad and step-mom, my grandmother, my brother, Matt's aunt, and our girls. (Matt's parents left their house with the girls just after we left.) Dinner was fantastic and we learned that our girls happen to love lettuce wraps! They used chop-sticks too and thought that was really cool! Ainsley got the hang of it pretty quickly. Cadence needed a little help, but she still enjoyed her food! Of course, there was cake too. I needed a little help blowing out the candles, and Ainsley was an eager little candle blower outer! ;-)

Thursday, Matt and I spent the day at the Greensboro Coliseum watching the first round of the NCAA Men's basketball tournament. Matt bought tickets as part of my birthday gift. We'd been to this before in college and had a great time, so since the Tarheels were going to be there, we knew we were in for a treat! The girls spent the day with Matt's mom. They met up with us between sessions of the games for dinner then we headed back to the coliseum and they headed back to get the girls in bed for the night. Matt and I got back to their house around midnight to a quiet sleeping house!

Friday, I took the girls to the Natural Science Center to wander around the zoo and hang out with my dad. He's worked there 30+ years and I spent my high school and college years working there as well. Ainsley and Cadence love visiting there, so I take them when I can. :-) Here they are with the gibbons.

Friday afternoon I headed out for some birthday pampering courtesy of Matt's mom. I got a mani/pedi and enjoyed a glass of wine while I was at it!

Saturday, the girls and I spent some time with my mom and brother. We hung out at their house for a bit then went out to lunch. Late Saturday afternoon, Matt and I headed back to the colliseum for the second round of games while the girls hung out with Nana, Pap-paw and Aunt Sara again. They must have had a fun time because they were all asleep again when we got home!

Sunday, we drove back home to Charlotte to prepare for the week ahead. I had a wonderful birthday weekend. Oh, yeah, the Tarheels won while we were there. Let's hope that trend continues and they get the big win on April 6th!
